Together We Respond was Step Together Association's emergency psychosocial support initiative for children and families affected by the renewed escalation of conflict in Lebanon in 2026. Delivered with the support of Friends of Waldorf Education and Aktion Deutschland Hilft, the project brought trauma-sensitive emergency pedagogy directly to displaced children sheltering in public schools, alongside continued support for Step Together's own special needs student community. Sessions combined storytelling, music, rhythmical movement, games, art therapy, and massage therapy, giving children a structured, safe space to process their experiences and reconnect with a sense of routine during a period of acute disruption. Caregivers and parents were encouraged to take part alongside their children, extending the benefit of the sessions to the wider family rather than the child alone. Over the course of the project, children showed steady, sustained improvement in both their engagement with the activities and their emotional expression. Together We Respond reflects Step Together's broader commitment to responding quickly and meaningfully to emerging needs, and the strength of the partnerships that make that response possible.
